Police arrest suspected abductor

OYO State police command has rescued a 42-years-old man identified as Dare Olawale from his captors who had held him captive for 21 days.

While performing his last official duty during a press conference on Tuesday as the state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Udom Ekpoudom Udom, an Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) who has been transferred to Zone 5 Benin said Olawale was kidnapped during a vigil in one of the churches at Oluyole Estate in Ibadan.

According to him “Dare Olawale is the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Wealth Solution Investment, one of the wonder banks that collected financial subscriptions from members of the public in Oyo State.

According to him, “His abductor, one Yusuf Olawunmi, has asked him to produce a sum of two hundred and thirty eight million naira he allegedly collected from various depositors at Ogunpa market before he could be freed.”

The police boss stated that consequent upon report, his men from the Monitoring Unit swung into action and succeeded in arresting Olawunmi with a Nissan Pathfinder Jeep used to adbduct Olawale and at the same time rescued the victim who is now in police custody.

Items recovered from his hideout which is a dilapidated storey building at Oremeji area of Ibadan, included one double barrel gun, one pump action gun and 25 live catridges, four vehicles, two cutlasses, a rope, seven towels, two flashlight and nine hand gloves.
