Ogun NIS intercepts arms at Benin border

The Nigerian Immigration Service, (NIS), Ogun State Command, has intercepted arms, life ammunition and a bullet proof jacket at Ohumbe-Obelle, a border town with Benin Republic in the state.

This was made known by the Assistant Comptroller, Zone‘A’, Mr. Carjetan Nnamdi, during a press conference at the Command’s Headquaters in Abeokuta, on Tuesday.

According to him, his officers at the border resisted the importation of the cache of arms into Nigeria ,despite all efforts by those in possession of the illegal arms.

The immigration boss told journalists that a Toyota Carina 11 with the registration number Lagos EJ 471 LSR,was seized with 179 live ammunition, two Kallashin rifles, one locally made pistol, one catridge and four magazines containing 30 live ammunition.

He added that the car might have been stolen but because the vechicle document showed that it belonged to a Pastor with the name, Bayo Abraham.

According to Nnamdi, “My officers on duty were approached by two occupants of the car who sought their permission to enter the country. They were requested to present their travel documents, which they did not have.
