Firm seeks to join OBJ in N306m suit

Akeem Nafiu, Lagos - 12.03.2008

A Federal High Court in Abuja has been asked to join former President Olusegun Obasanjo in a N306 million suit instituted by Inter Projects Associates Limited against the authorities of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, over allocation of Plot 589 at Cadastral Zone AOO of Central Business District.

In a motion on notice dated March 6, 2008, the plaintiff, stated that joining Chief Obasanjo as a necessary party in the matter would assist the court in ventilating and determining all the issues involved in the matter.

The plaintiff, who was hinted on the surreptitious moves by Obasanjo to forcefully take the land from it, had gone to court with a writ of summons seeking a declaration that he is the beneficial owner and Bonafide holder of the Accelerated Development Programme Grant over the parcel of land referred to as Plot 589 Zone, AOO Central Business District, Abuja.

The company also asked the court to declare that the letter of approval of the Accelerated Development Programme granted him over the land by the FCT authority remains valid and subsisting

While praying the court for an order of perpetual injunction to restrain the defendants, their agents and privies from destroying, causing to be destroyed, demolishing or causing to be demolished any part of the structure on plot 589, the plaintiff stated that any letter of offer or approval to build or any certificate of occupancy by the defendants to any other party other than declared illegal, ultra-vires and void.
