‘NYSC scheme dear to FG’

THE continuous sustenance of the NYSC scheme is one of the pivotal aspirations of the administration of President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua.

Secretary to the Social Development Secretariat, Mrs. Felicia Olajide ,declared this during an inspection visit to the site of facilities under renovation at the permanent site of the NYSC orientation camp in Kubwa, Abuja, on Thursday.

While being conducted round the facilities by the project coordinator, Architect Ikenna Ekeledo, Mrs. Olajide expressed satisfaction over the completion of the first phase of the project which started only six weeks ago.

She stated that the renovation of the facilities was a mark of the administration’s recognition of the importance of the NYSC scheme tot he development of the nation. She therefore pleaded for the sustenance of the scheme as against calls from some quarters for it to be scrapped.

The Secretary assured that with the completion oft he first phase of the project, the next orientation exercise will be held at the camp.
