NTA robbery: Anambra govt teams with police to fish out culprits

Anambra State government will collaborate with the state police command to track down armed groups behind the robbery operations at the Awka branch of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) which claimed the life of a staff last weekend.

The state governor, Mr. Peter Obi, made the promise when top management team of the NTA headquarters from Abuja paid him a visit at the government house Awka on Monday, during their assessment visit to Awka NTA.

He regretted that the incident occurred at a time when the state government had “provided proper and effective crime control mechanisms through provision of necessary facilities to the police and other security outfits which made the state rank as the safest in the country.”

The governor said he felt disturbed that the “night marauders wasted human life merely because of theft of electric generator.

He sympathised with the NTA management, staff, and relatives of the killed staff, adding that no stone would be left unturned in the on-going manhunt to track down the armed robbers to face the wrath of the law.

In his remarks the leader of the visiting management team, Mr. Peter Igho, on behalf of the Director-General of NTA, Dr. Tonie Iredia, thanked Governor Obi for his interest in providing regular support to NTA, especially security and rehabilitation of the road leading to the television station.
