ICPC substitutes charges against ex-OAUTH CMD

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) is to substitute the earlier charge in a case of alleged N151.8 million fraud brought against the former Chief Medical Director (CMD) of Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital (OAUTHC), Ile-Ife, Professor David Akinola and two of the workers of the hospital.

The two others named in the alleged fraud suit included the hospital’s Deputy Director of Finance, Mr Nathaniel Dosumu and the late Dr Lofinyoye Ilesanmi.

The trio were alleged to have in October 2001 or thereabout being management staff of OAUTH, did knowingly furnish false statement in the arrears journal from January- October 2001.

They were alleged to have falsely claimed that N151, 801,700.93 was purportedly paid to the workers as the sum total of professional allowances for 2001 when no such amount was paid.

The ICPC also alleged that Professor Akinola and two others “in October 2001 or thereafter at OAUTH did knowingly furnish false statement in the Arrears journal from January to October 2001 in the sum of N9,339,654.10.
