Kogi: PPA presents new gov candidate
Johnson Babajide, Lokoja - 10.03.2008
FOLLOWING the de fection of the stan dard bearer of the Progressive Peoples Alliance (PPA), in the April 14, 2007 governorship election in Kogi State, Mr. Duro Meseko, to another party, the PPA, at the weekend, presented a new candidate for the rescheduled election slated for March 29.
At a press briefing organised by the candidate, Dr. Jacob Abdullahi, who hoisted the Fresh Party’s flag in the last governorship election, said his decision to move to the PPA was as a result of the interest of the down-trodden, which, he said, was the hallmark of the PPA. Abdullahi said his new party had realised the poverty level in the state and the need to pull resources together to provide the desired dividends of democracy in the state.
He attributed the incessant crisis bedeviling the state to the neglect of the youth who, he said, would be given adequate attention if he assumed office. While describing the state as being blessed with both human and natural resources, the governorship candidate promised to harness the resources for the benefit of the people of the state.
