World Bank to assist Kwara on health care delivery

THE World Bank is to assist Kwara State in the area of health care delivery. The Special Advisor on Health for World Bank in Africa, Dr. O.K. Pannenborg, disclosed this when he and his team visited the community health plan in Shonga, in Edu Local Government Area of the state. He said the visit was to assess the performance of the health care plan in the state in the last one year.
Dr. Pannenborg said what the team met on the ground on the community health plan indicated that the government was committed to health development in the state.
He said his team was satisfied with the success of the programme, adding that the people of the community had testified to them that the programme had brought dividends of democracy closer to them.
The Commissioner of Health, Hajiya Ayinke Saka, had earlier stated that the government had spent $130, 000 on infrastructure, ambulance and other facilities towards the success of the programme. She said the dream of the government was to improve health care delivery in the state.
