Bankole Makinde, Abuja - 10.03.2008
THE Minister of the
Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Dr. Aliyu Modibbo Umar, has ordered the conditional restoration of the titles of about 2,000 plots of land revoked in three categories between 2004 and 2007.
The plots to be reinstated to their original owners include those which titles were revoked for non-development in districts without infrastructure; those in districts without infrastructure that were revoked on the grounds of non-recertification and those reallocated without records of revocation of existing titles.
The conditions for the reinstatement, according to a release signed by the Special Assistant to the Minister on Communications, Mr. Diran Onifade included that all reinstatements were subject to compliance with development control guidelines and notices.
Another condition, the statement said, is that “revocation stands where new allottees have appreciable development on the plots. Previous allottees may be considered for alternative plots when available.”
It said all allottees whose titles were reinstated would be requested to rectify their titles and pay a revised fee of N150, 000.
