Suswam’s aide loses wife, two brothers in auto crash

John Akpodovhan, Makurdi - 10.02.2008

The people of TseKwaghzan mourned as the remains of three members of the family of the Director of Protocol (DOP) to Governor Gabriel Suswam of Benue State, Mr Igbana Kwaghzan, who were killed in an auto crash were buried on Saturday.

The car in which the deceased were travelling on January 22, in preparation for this year’s Holy Pilgrimage to Jerusalem, collided with a truck at Tse-Kucha, Makurdi, killing them on the spot.

Wife of the DOP, Mrs. Rebecca Kwaghzan, along with Ieren Kwaghzan, Vershima Kwaghzan and Ortamen Jonathan, died in the accident. Speaking after the church service, Honourable Terseer Tsumba, Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly, enjoined the husband and members of his family to take solace in the fact that the wife was a believer during her lifetime.

Kwaghzan, while thanking all in attendance, admitted that his wife’s death was an act of God as he had always known that God wanted to spare the life of one of them because, before the sad incident, according to him, he and his wife were involved in a motor accident.

“On October 16, 2007, my wife and I were involved in an accident that almost claimed our lives. A truck rammed into our car when I was taking my wife to her workplace, but we came out unscathed. The vehicle was a write-off, but we came out alive.

It was indeed miraculous. We would have died at that time, but God spared our lives,” he said.
