Muhammed Sabi’u, Gusau - 10.02.2008

A female drug baron, Hajiya A’isha Sani, has been apprehended by officials of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA}, Zamfara State Command.

Speaking with Sunday Tribune, the state Commander, Alhaji Ibrahim Dodo, explained that the 40-year-old woman was arrested with 112 kilograms of Indian hemp at Nasarawa Gurusu in Bukkuyum Local Government Area of the state.

Also, he disclosed that the suspect was found with 2.7 kilogram of psychotropic substance known as D5. The commander narrated how, on several occasions, his men tried to arrest the drug baron but to no avail. However, ”we had to strategise before we finally got her”, Dodo explained, adding that she is now being interrogated by his command before she is handed over to the police for eventual prosecution.

The commander reiterated the resolve of his command to fish out drug barons wherever they are in the state, saying: “I want to tell them that it is no longer business as usual.”
