Enyeama risks club’s hammer

NIGERIA goalkeeper, Vincent Enyeama is set to defy his club in order to represent Nigeria at next month’s Olympic Games in Beijing, China.

Enyeama is expected to be named by Olympic team coach Samson Siasia as one of his three over-age players for the games, but his Israeli club Hapoel Tel Aviv will be involved in UEFA Cup and Domestic League games next month and has asked the player not to go.

However, KickOffNigeria.com understands that the goalkeeper has let the club know that it is up to the Nigeria authorities, telling Hapoel that if he is named in the squad, he will be prepared to risk Hapoel’s ire by representing his country at the Games.

Under FIFA rules, clubs are not obliged to release over-age players to their country for the games.
