Crown boss seeks LG’s support

09.07.2008

IN the bid to ensure a successful campaign for Crown FC of Ogbomoso in the forthcoming season, management of the club has commenced moves to get enough funds for its matches.

Crown would continue its quest to grab a promotion ticket which the club has for long been seeking, but the club officials are optimistic the ticket would be picked in the incoming season.

However, club chairman,Chief Olayiwola Olagbemiro believes only money can stand between the team and its target and has therefore been making moves to get enough funds to run the club in the 2008/09 season.

Speaking recently on the plans of the Ogbomoso-based side ahead of the season, Chief Olagbemiro hinted that his team would vie for promotion ticket with all in its arsenal but called on all local government councils in the state to assist the club by providing enough funds for the club.

According to the former Plateau United boss, Crown in terms of preparation has done its home work properly, adding that all that remains for the team is solid financing.

"We have been doing well in the area of preparation for the new season; we have embarked on recruitment of good players who will be seriously committed to our course because we believe that Crown's promotion to the elite league has been long overdue

"As much as we can do, there is little or nothing that can be achieved without proper funding and that is why we are appealing to all local government councils in the state to come to our aids and help us financially."

The former Nigeria Football Association (NFA) board member said such gesture added to what the club was getting from the state government, which he said was doing well in that regard, would help Crown achieve its promotion dream.

Meanwhile, the Oyo State FA Cup holder has continued to prepare for the season under the watchful eyes of the coach Niyi Akande-led technical crew.

Coach Akande told Globacom League Update that all the players were sweating it out to fit into the team, adding that only players who had what it takes to don the team's colour would be registered for the season.

He added that the club would be involved in series of friendly matches to be in proper shape for hostilities in the new season.
