Schuster: Ronaldo will play
for Real Madrid
09.05.2008
REAL Madrid coach, Bernd Schuster, is convinced his side will eventually sign Manchester United star, Cristiano Ronaldo.
"I need to be realistic," Schuster declared. "I know that Manchester United do not want to sell him at the moment because right now he is the best player in the world.
"He has already proved he is better than Kaka because the Brazilian has not had a good season with Milan.
"And I do believe that in the future, Ronaldo will wear the white shirt of Real at El Santiago Bernabeu and play for us."
Meanwhile, Manchester City and Manchester United are battling for Tottenham striker Dimitar Berbatov.
The Daily Mail says rumours were rife that Manchester City owner Thaksin Shinawatra was lining up a British record £32million offer.
However, he is more likely to end up on the other side of Manchester. A year after turning down the opportunity to sign Berbatov for £10.9m, United are prepared to pay twice that after his agent confided he would only consider Old Trafford if he stays in England.
Spain and Italy are also options, but Sir Alex Ferguson is likely to be at the front of the queue after being told he will be have money to spend.
