Chinese to invest in power projects at airports

Efforts of the management of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) to attract both local and foreign investors to partner with it may have begun to pay off as a group of Chinese investors has indicated interest in investing in the Independent Power Project (IPP) at the nation’s airports.
This is sequel to a meeting of the Managing Director of the FAAN, Mr. Richard Aisuebeogun, last week, with the management of Guangdong Xinguang International Group (GXIG), Guangzhou, China.
At the recently concluded sixth Nigeria- China Business and Investment Forum in China, Aisuebeogun, who was on the delegation from the Ministry of Transportation, encouraged the Chinese investors to discuss with the Ogun State government on possible participation in the construction of the proposed Ogun International Cargo Airport.
Investor from the China Research Institute of Electrical/ Electronics Engineering also indicated interest in investing in Traffic Light Systems, Automatic Surface Monitoring System and Air Traffic Control Systems.
