Ali’s house: El-Rufai lied — Modibbo-Umar
09.05.2008
THE former minister
of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mallam Nasir el-Rufai has been accused of covering up the truth in recent his testimony at the senate public hearing on the demolition of houses in the FCT during his tenure.
In a statement signed by Diran Onifade, Senior Special Assistant on Communications to the Minister of Federal Capital Territory, Aliyu Modibbo Umar, faulted the excuse given by El-Rufai as justification for his action, especially on the demolition of the house of the wife of first national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Ahmadu Ali.
The statement queried the rationale behind the demolition of the particular house situated on Plot 1613, Cadabstral Zone, Asokoro while other buildings surrounding it were spared.
“The fact in ground is that the Ali’s house is not in the way of any water line. Even as we speak, a number of neighbouring houses are right on top of two trunk pipes,” he said.
