FCTA introduces hotlines for city laws violation - Minister

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Administration has introduced telephone hotlines that will be used to facilitate the interception of all city laws violators whenever such violations are made.

The FCT Minister, Dr. Aliyu Modibbo Umar, made this disclosure during the week’s FCT Operational Department briefing at the Banquet Hall of the FCT Minister’s House, Life-Camp, Abuja.

The minister stated that the measures were put in place not only to apprehend traffic regulations and environmental laws violators, but also to keep a tab on the entire Federal Capital City to stem criminal activities.

According to him, the hotlines would enable residents to instantly report any suspicious movement from any quarter or district of Abuja to the law enforcement agents for immediate action.

Dr. Umar stated that by the measure, all residents of the Federal Capital Territory would effectively participate in the policing of the 8,000 square kilometers of the entire territory for the benefit of all.

“The residents of the territory have an option to either take control of their city or leave it in the hands of hoodlums and criminals who will in turn put them in bondage,” he said.
