Niger Vows To Conduct Crisis-free Local Government Poll

THE Niger State government has vowed that the forthcoming local government election in the state will be transparent and crisis-free.

The government also said that a level playing field would be provided for all political parties to contest with the candidates of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party during the election.

Commissioner for Information, Alhaji Adamu Ahmed Kagarawo, gave the assurance in Minna while addressing a news conference on Friday. Kagara said it was the view of the state government that elections devoid of crisis and acrimony would not only lead to the selection of a truly peoples representatives but assist to entrench democratic principles and ideals.

The commissioner said in line with the policy government had directed the SIEC not to charge fees for any of the aspirants but said that the political parties could charge whatever fee they feel like charging.
