Crisis Rocks Katsina PDP
09.02.2008
THE Katsina State
chapter of the
Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is now engulfed in crisis over the adoption of consensus candidates for the forthcoming local government election.
The party had earlier sold nomination forms to the chairmanship and councillorship candidates, but later decided to endorse consensus candidates.
It was learnt that the PDP set up a reconciliation committee, which met at the Government House, Katsina, and came out with the consensus candidates.
NAN also gathered that the party’s reconciliation committee later adopted 30 out of the 34 caretaker chairmen as the party’s flag bearers for the polls. Outcome of the reconciliation committee meeting was, however, rejected by majority of the party’s supporters and the candidates.
