08.03.2008
Life for residents of the
Federation of Moslem
Women Association of Nigeria (FOMWAN) Orphanage in Ibadan took a turn for the better last Tuesday as telecom giants, MTN and music rave of the moment, FuFace Idibia, showered the home with cash and food gifts.
The visit to the orphanage was part of the itinerary for the ongoing tour of six Nigerian cities by TuFace and other local and international music artistes. The programme is tagged MTN XtraCool Tour With TuFace And Friends and sponsored by MTN in collaboration with Do Joes, a Lagos-based marketing company.
At the orphanage located at the Orita Bashorun area of Ibadan, the over 40 children within the 0 – 15 years age bracket were ecstatic to have the very popular musician visit their home. They carried placards proclaiming love for the Nigerian pop idol. They were all over him, singing and chanting special songs composed for him. The children also presented a playlet in honour of the visitors.
In a welcome address, proprietress of the home, Alhaja Sururat Oyero, commended MTN and 2Face for finding time to visit the orphanage, which she said had been in the vanguard of caring for orphans for almost 21 years and had catered for about 84 children so far.
