Harassment Of Journalists And Media Houses By Police

The Ondo State League of Veteran Journalists is constrained to put up this release in view of the recent harassment and intimidation of journalists and media houses in the country by the police in recent times.

Inasmuch as we do not oppose the police in the lawful discharge of their duties, we believe such should be done with utmost civility and decorum and the rule of law.

It should be noted that the press as the Fourth Estate of the Realm equally has a vital role to play in national development like the police.

This translates to mean that their functions, though distinctly different, are complementary. It is, therefore, expected that the police, the Bar, and the Press should enjoy a cordial relationship.
