Olubadan: Adedibu stops my salary - It is not true says Adedibu

The Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Samuel Odulana, on Monday said that the Ibadan-based politician, Chief Lamidi Adedibu, was the person responsible for the stoppage of his salary and other entitlements from seven of the 11 local government councils in Ibadan.

Oba Odulana, who made the accusation while speaking with journalists in his residence after a meeting of the Olubadan-in-Counci, said the state government did not know anything concerning the stoppage of the salary.

The monarch said investigations by him revealed that the stoppage was the handiwork of Chief Adedibu without the knowledge of the state government.

Speaking also on the development, an aide of the monarch said “investigations conducted by the palace in the Ministry of Local Government indicated that the council bosses acted in isolation of the government.”

The Ekerin Olubadan, Chief Omowale Kuye, said ”Ibadan North West Local Government where I domicile was not part of the defaulting councils due to my insistence on the payment of my entitlement as a high chief along that of the monarch.”

The Ekarun Olubadan, Chief Adedibu, and another high chief, Albert Olunloyo, were absent at the meeting. But Chief Adedibu described the allegation as baseless and far from the truth.

Reacting through one of his aides, Alhaji Lukman Agboluaje, Chief Adedibu said he did not order any council chairman to stop Olubadan’s salary, adding that he would also become an Olubadan one day.

“How can he stop Olubadan’s salary? Is he a local government chairman? In what capacity would he have stopped the salary? Apart from this, he is also going to be an Olubadan one day,” Agboluaje said.
