On incessant robbery cases in Nigeria
Armed robbery is
one of the greatest
problems the country is facing at the moment.
Before now, armed robbers were publicly executed, to serve as deterrent to others who might be contemplating taking up such a vice.
Today, it is no longer news that armed robbery cases have increased and it is giving relevant authorities sleepless nights.
Many Nigerians have been maimed, while many others have been killed during armed robbery operations.
However, a research into why armed robbery is fast gaining ground is something that is very easy to embark upon, without having the research knowledge of a university professor.
Today, Nigerian streets are filled with graduates who drive Okada to make a living, because they could not get decent jobs.
After living through the struggles for a long time, they then opt for the fast route to make life more meaningful — and that is taking to crime.
What armed robbery is doing to the country’s economy is unquantifiable. Many foreign investors who had visited the country to transact business at one time or the other, had not been spared by these men of the underworld.
And one can be sure that a foreign bussinessman who was robbed in Nigeria, will never have anything positive to say about the country.
It would also be difficult to convince such a person to come back to the country.
So, to stem this ugly trend, everybody has a role to play — the parents, government and religious institutions.
If everybody takes his/her role seriously, armed robbery will greatly reduce.

Celebrating Kemi Alao-Akala at 46
Chief (Mrs) ‘Kemi
Alao Akala, the
ebullient and kind hearted wife of the Governor of Oyo State, Chief Bayo Alao Akala is 46 years old. The import of this write-uo is to encourage the woman not to relent in her efforts to bring succour to the less privileged particularly women and children.
Her success in all she lays her hands upon is not surprising, she is always standing like the rock of Gibraltar behind her husband providing support and inspiration through the thick and thin of her husband’s political sojourn. During the tenure of Otunba Akala as the chairman of Ogbomoso North Local Government, Chief Kemi Alao-Akala was there co-ordinating the affairs of women in the Local Government Council under the aegis of Women Forum of Ogbomoso North Local Government area. The forum complemented the efforts of the local government in alleviating the problems of the less privileged in the Local Government Council. When Chief Kemi Alao- Akala was performing her role as the coordinator of women affairs when her husband was chairman of Ogbomoso North Local Government, she never realized that fate was preparing her for a greater responsibility .
Precisely two years after, her husband became the Deputy Governor of Oyo State. Though, the constitution did not give much responsibility to the wife of the deputy governor, yet her experience was brought to bear whenever the immediate former first lady gave her responsibility to perform.
Kemi Alao-Akala’s dexterity in handling women affairs, which she acquired as the local government level and as wife of the deputy governor, became useful when providence placed her on the high pedestal as the wife of the executive governor of Oyo State on January 12, 2006.
There is no doubt that, Chief Mrs. Akala’s philanthropic gestures is being enjoyed to the fullest by children and women in Oyo State through her pet project-Community Advancement Programme. Community. Advance Programme is product of compassion
