Amun backs NFA on Amodu

Former acting secretary general of the Nigeria Football Association(NFA), Fanny Amun has spoken in defence of the body’s decision not to make the contract of new Super Eagles coach, Shaibu Amodu public.

The returnee Eagles coach and his assistants were unveiled at an elaborate ceremony last Friday, with the NFA refusing to announce details of their contracts, but Amun insisted in an interview with brilafm.net that there was nothing wrong with the development, while noting that such matters should be personal.

“Contracts are personal matters, and have to be taken as such. I don’t know why anyone should want to know about what another man is earning. It’s not supposed to be for public knowledge,” he stressed.

The Japan ’93 FIFA U-17 World Cup-winning coach congratulated Amodu on taking up the new Eagles challenge, with a verdict that the former BCC Lions of Gboko and Orlando Pirates of South Africa gaffer is the best around to have been handed the job.

“Amodu has proved over the years that he is good and we all know what he is capable of doing. I am happy that he got the job and I know that he is likely to succeed, in his new appointment, Amun said.
