Sudatel to begin operations in Nigeria June

There are indications that Sudatel , a Sudanese telecommunications operator, which acquired 70 per cent stake in Intercellular, may formally commence business in Nigeria by June.

“We have concluded all the permutations and the agreement issue; and by June, we should expect the final take-over and formal launch of Sudatel’s business in Nigeria’s telecom industry,” Mr. Fidel Otuya, Head, Public Relations, Intercellular Ltd, said in a telephone interview with the Nigerian Tribune on Thursday.

Sudatel, more than 60 per cent owned by the Sudanese government is a telecommunication and Internet service provider in the Sudan, is expected to pay around N68.75 billion (USD591.5 million) for the 70 per cent stake in the financially troubled CDMA operator.
