Benue judiciary workers join strike

The Benue State Judiciary on Wednesday joined the ongoing strike by the judiciary workers. Judicial offices were closed in the state following the directive from the national headquarters of the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN).

Commenting on the strike, the Chairman, Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria, Benue State chapter, Mr. Richard Aor, said the strike was to compel the Federal Government to implement the new salary structure for judicial workers as well as release a white paper on the reforms of the judicial sector, among others.

Reacting to the strike, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Labour Matters, Chief Boga Abur, said the judiciary was a very important arm of the government and could not be ignored.

On their demands, he disclosed that the state government was discussing with the Federal Government, adding that though the strike was not a state matter, the state government was willing to intervene for immediate resolution of the problem.
