Former Super
Eagles
coach,Adegboye Onigbinde has commended the Nigeria Football Association (NFA) for making the right choice by appointing the Shaibu Amodu-led Super Eagles technical crew.
The FIFA/CAF instructor told KickOffNigeria.com that he felt the NFA had started to listen to fruitful advice from meaningful quarters. “I think that is the reason they are doing well right now and getting commendation from Nigerians,” Onigbinde said.
“I have to thank all of you on behalf of the body of football coaches in Nigeria because this is a big honour done to indigenous coaches in this country.
“We sincerely express our gratitude to the board of the NFA, to the government of Nigeria and the people of Nigeria for this confidence reposed in us. We want to assure you that as patriotic citizens of this country, we will always do our best to ensure that we do not let you down.
“We are going to work tirelessly to ensure that we achieve success,” Onigbinde assured.
He also went down the memory lane to recall his own appointment which took the same dimension of the Amodu.
“What is happening now is like re-writing history. I could remember going through a rigorous screening like Amodu and the rest went through in 1982 before I was appointed as the Eagles chief coach. I eventually became the guinea pig.”
