Zenith hosts youth empowerment forum at CTO

THE annual Zenith Bank sponsored Youth Empowerment Forum for Digital Revolution will hold at the Agip Recital Hall of the MUSON Centre, Lagos on Monday, May 12, 2008. The event, which will hold alongside the CTO, an exhibition organised annually by the US Commercial Service, is open to youths from the ages of 13 to 25.

The CTO is organised annually to showcase the latest in the world of Information Technology (IT), while the youth forum is the bank’s contribution to youth empowerment aimed at helping to bridge the digital divide through early exposure to ICT tools and skills.

The event, which is anchored on the premise that ICT is the key to sustainable wealth creation in the 21st Century, is one of Zenith Bank’s social responsibility initiatives. The bank sees the forum as a veritable platform to help channel the energies of Nigerian youths away from anti-social behaviours to good causes.

The inaugural forum, held at the University of Lagos in 2003, drew an audience of over 2000 youths from select secondary schools and tertiary institutions around Lagos . The University of Lagos, as the host of the first forum, was the beneficiary of a computer centre equipped with PCs and internet access sponsored by Zenith Bank.

It is expected that the bank will be storming this year’s event with a banquet of e-product offerings specially designed to further the theme of this year’s CTO which is ‘A World Without Borders’, most of which will be given out free to visitors to the bank’s stands.

Already the bank has been appointed as the sole sponsor of the segment, Aspiring Entrepreneurs & Youth Forum, where the Managing Director of the bank, Jim Ovia, will be addressing hundreds of youths on latest trends in the world of Information Technology.
