Enugu 2008: NATO boss impressed

Niyi Alebiosu, Lagos - 06.04.2008

THE performance of athletes at the ongoing BigTreat plc sponsored 10th Federal College of Education games has been rated high.

Speaking at the games venue, Federal government College, Enugu, the Chairman, National Amateur Athletics Technical Officials (NATO), Chidi Aneke said the athletes had shown that the future was bright for the country in athletics.

According to him, “for the athletes to be doing below 11, 11.2 seconds at these games at students level, shows that they will go places in the nearest future if properly trained”.

He further advised that there should be sports academies that would help nurture the students to greatness.

Meanwhile, Chinedu Ukaegbu of the Federal Science College Sokoto set a new record in the boys’ javelin throwing 50m to erase the previous one set by Stephen Mhambe of the same school in 2004.
