Falconets are battle-ready - Coach

HEAD Coach of the Nigeria U-20 Women’s team, Falconets, Dan Evumena has assured that his girls will put smiles on the faces of Nigerians when they tackle Cameroun in a FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup qualifying match in Abuja today.

The Falconets, quarter –finalists at the 2004 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup competition in Thailand four years ago, drew bye to the second round of the African series after Congo Brazzaville withdrew, and will have their outing in the race against the Camerounians.

“We got here without kicking a ball because Congo withdrew, but that does not mean my girls are not battle –ready. We have been training hard and we have a good idea of what we need to do to overcome our opponents.

“We are not boasting, but we will make Nigeria proud by delivering on the day”. Coach Evumena has had 26 players camped in Abuja for the past three weeks. These include Mabel Egwuenu, Ezinne Mbalisi, Chidinma Harrison, Charity John, Margaret Dike, Esther Edem, Onyinyechi Ukaonu, Joy Jegede and Doris Ewhubare.

Others are Elomese Alabi, Oluchi Ezeji, Rebecca Kalu, Onyinyechi Ohadugha, Esther Victor, Gloria Iroka, Bidemi Reuben, Sherifat Saheed, Chioma John, Ebere Orji, Mimi Sanusi, Faustina Ugwuadu, Sarah Michael, Ogonna Chukwudi, Esther Michael and Ugochi Oparanozie.
