I won over Anichebe for Nigeria - Yobo

EVERTON defender Joseph Yobo admits he influenced Victor Anichebe’s decision to commit to Nigeria.

He said “I know Victor had some doubts and a lot of people were talking to him and telling him different things.

“But I am happy he listened to me and decided to play for Nigeria.”

Yobo told Kick Off Nigeria that he was hugely instrumental in the 19-year-old’s decision to help secure his country’s qualification for the Beijing Olympics.

“I play against him in training all the time and its very difficult for any centre back to play against him,” stressed the former Marseille stopper. “He is a big boy and it was up to him to make his choice.”
