Pastor Adeboye made and pasted posters in US

Pastor E. A . Adeboye, the General Overseer of The Redeemed Christian Church of God was personally involved in the making of posters and pasting them around a US town in the early 90s as the first RCCG parish was set up in the US, Empowered Newswire reports.

Revealing this and other details about the formation of the RCCG in North America earlier in the week was Pastor James Oladipo Fadele, the church’s most senior pastor in North America during an interview to commemorate his 50th birthday on Saturday, April 5.

According to Pastor Fadele the first parish in North America was established on the prompting of the G.O. during one of Pastor Adeboye’s visits to the US.

Said Fadele who is now the Chairman of the Board of Coordinators of the RCCG in North America “he (the G.O) visited me in Detroit; he persisted and mandated me to start the first parish of the RCCG in North America.” The parish Winners Chapel, in Detroit, Michigan, was set up in 1992.

Not only did the G.O. mandated Fadele to start the parish, the US pastor said “he backed up his faith and determination with action by joining me in making the fliers and posting banners in Detroit.“

It would be recalled that Pastor Adeboye had himself hinted in the past that in the early 90s he tried asking several RCCG members in the US to “start something” without anything done until he mandated Fadele to start. Now the RCCG has over 300 churches in the US and Canada.

Asked to narrate how he met the General Overseer, Fadele disclosed that “I grew up to know him as ‘Brother’ since by His grace we grew up in the same compound,” in Ifewara, Osun State.

He stated that Pastor Adeboye “inspired and mentored me to study Mathematics. His favorite word then was “how is your Maths? He joined the church before I did and became one of the ‘bible study leaders’ until I came to the US to study.”

The RCCG in North America has been known for breaking new grounds among Nigerian and African churches in the US. For instance few years ago the church in the US announced plans to give free land to members of the church in the US at the US camp as it is done also in the Nigerian camp. Plans for that are said to be in progress.
