Political leaders in Oyo State have been charged to embrace the rule of law in all their dealings in order to win the confidence of the masses.
Head of the Department of Political Science, University of Ibadan, Professor Bayo Okunade, gave this charge at the reception/lecture in honour of a national executive member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Yemi Yusuf, at Lyrics Resorts, Ibadan, on Friday.
Prof. Okunade, whose lecture was delivered by Dr Steven Lafenwa of the same department, said political leadership in Oyo State was currently non-existent, pointing out that what currently existed was headship which needed the trust of the people.
Chairman of the occasion, Mr. Femi Babalola, in his speech blamed poor leadership in the country on colonial masters who, he said, “trained our fathers not to ask questions.”
