By Tope Abiola - 06.03.2008

ARMED robbers on Wednesday attacked a bullion van belonging to one of the old generation banks on Ibadan-Ife express road and carted away undisclosed sum of money.

The robbers, Nigerian Tribune gathered blocked the road with a trailer at Wasimi village in Irewole Local Government Area of Osun State and started shooting sporadically at the bullion van.

Despite the fact that the bullion van was a bullet proof, accompanied by armed policemen, the robbers succeeded in carting away an undisclosed amount of money meant for a branch of the bank in Osun State.

It was further gathered that the robbers had unsuccessfully attempted to rob a bank in Ikire earlier. Nigerian Tribune also gathered that the robbers trailed the bullion van with another car which they set ablaze after the operation.

When the Nigerian Tribune visited the scene a team of policemen were seen deflating the tyres of the trailer used for the operation.
