Alaafin, Ooni witness coronation of Timi

Foremost traditional rulers in
Yorubaland, the Ooni of Ife, Oba Okunade Sijuwade and Alafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi on Wednesday witnessed the coronation of Oba Munirudeen Adesola Lawal (Laminisa I) as the Timi of Ede.
While Oba Sijuwade led scores of traditional rulers from Osun State , the Alafin of Oyo was accoampanied by no fewer than 50 traditional rulers from Oyo North to Ede .
A military governor of the defunct western region, Major General Adeyinka Adebayo (rtd) and the Iyalode of Ibadanland, Alhaja Aminat Abiodun were also present at the ceremony.
Speaking before the presentation of staff of office to Oba Lawal, Osun State governor, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, urged the people to cooperate with the new monarch so as to bring progress and development to the town.
The governor, who said that peace and tranquility were essential ingredients of development said, “it is only a deep rooted mutual understanding between Kabiyesi, the Timi of Edeland and his subjects that can make the people of this community record progress and development in all fields of human endeavours”.
Prince Oyinlola appealed to those who contested the throne with Oba Lawal to support him as he was the one chosen by God. “I charge all interest parties to pay obeisance and cooperate with the Kabiyesi, Timi of Edeland in the interest of peace and unity which Ede has enjoyed over the years”, he said.
