Yinka Ayefele concludes work on new album

AyefeleGOSpEL/Juju crooner, Yinka Ayefele has concluded work on its album and it will be available in record stores throughout the country from 15 December, 2008.

Known for releasing one album a year, Ayefele entitled the album Absolute praise, and informed Rhythms and Vibes that the album is a far departure from what all his albums are known for.

“Absolute praise is another album on its own, I don’t know how to categorise it but no matter what you’ll find your stuff in the album”, he said.

According to him, the eight-track album will be released under Aloy productions International record label owned by Aloysius Abeleje.

Ayefele who has had a quite interesting and eventful performing career this year climbed the ladder of success further when he toured 32-states of the United States of America with some members of his band.

Ayefele is being tipped by industry pundits to clinch the Best Artiste award at the KORA awards 2008.

Dupe Falodun launches debut album Sunday

Dupe FalodunThis Sunday will witness the birth of a new gospel act, Dupe Falodun. Dupe will be rolling out the drums for the launching of her debut album, entitled Na God.

In a chat with Rhythms and Vibes recently, she disclosed that the album took her several years to complete.

“I’ve being into music since 1992 but I actually received the vision to sing in 1989 and since then I’ve been trying my hands on so many stuffs until I arrived at this.

“I believe the album will make an impact because I really took my time to produce it,” she said.

Dupe, apart from performing at social engagements, also trades. The four-track album is a danceable stuff for both party and listening pleasure.

The launching which holds at the Church Hall of the Molete Baptist Church, Challenge starts from 2.00pm.

27 yr-old Henry wins Zain’s TRU Search in Lagos

Twenty-seven-year-old Henry Yire has emerged winner of the Zain TRU Search with Nigezie in Lagos. TRU Search is a music talent hunt competition targeted at young University students across Nigeria.

With a somewhat intimidating surname, Amrevurayire and a unique stage name, Blaq Sheep, the dark Warri boy, thrilled the Judges with a scintillating rendition of several classic tunes and laid back Hip Hop flavours.

The judges comprising Disc Jockeys, Jimmy Jatt and America’s Hot 97 Radio presenter, Banky Hype, showed no trace of doubt as they unanimously declared Blaq Sheep the winner of the Lagos edition of the high profile musical contest which has gone round Nigeria.

Specifically, Banky Hype described the Higher National Diploma (HND) Undergraduate of Yaba College of Technology as a real talent, stressing that the young musician has all the potential to blossom into a high profile artiste.

Even the first runner-up, Elizabeth Okenwa (Betty) echoed similar sentiments, endorsing the Judges’ decision to crown Blaq Sheep as the winner. She said he held his own confidently and stylishly during the painful 48-hour search for a musical genius across tertiary institutions in Lagos state.

Interestingly, Blaq Sheep did not just play in the league of his peers or fellow contestants. Organizers of the show, leading telecoms operator, Zain and popular television outfit, Nigezie granted the Building Technology student an opportunity to test his lyrical might with popular lyricist, 9ice at the TRU Search Concert, an event held, last weekend, at popular entertainment hangout, planet One, Maryland, Lagos.
Norman Moyo, Chief Marketing Officer, Zain Nigeria said TRU Search follows the recent launch of Zain’s youth package, TRU, a funky, hybrid offer designed to fit the lifestyle of Nigerian youths, saying that Zain aims to take the package to an amazing height with the search for the best musical talents in tertiary institutions across the country.
