Ladoja’s supporters in police net over bye-election

Two supporters of Senator Rasidi Ladoja, the immediate past governor of Oyo State, Mrs. Titi Ojo, the woman leader, Lagelu Ward 3 and Mr. Remi Sulaiman, a teacher at N.O. Idowu Comprehensive High School, Olorunda, are now being interrogated by the state police command in connection with the bye-election into Lagelu Federal Constituency of the state held on January 26.

Nigerian Tribune’s investigations revealed that the duo were arrested in different places on Tuesday by men of the police detectives from the Special Anti-Robbery Squad of the state criminal of the command.

Speaking on their arrest in an interview with journalists in Ibadan on Tuesday, the state Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Mr. Ralph Ibeazor, said “there was a report that the woman leader led six other persons to rob some people of their handsets during the by-election and I have ordered full investigation into the allegation.

“There was a report against them that about seven of them, led by the woman, went to rob some people of their handsets while they were armed with guns.

“But my thinking is that if the incident happened during the bye-election, which was held about three weeks ago, why the report now? It may be an after-thought. But we are going to investigate to see whether the report was not politically motivated,” he said.
