Please, don’t boo us again - Obuh

By Olawale Olaniyan - 05.11.2009

AS the Golden Eaglets of Nigeria prepare for today's round of 16 match of the ongoing FIFA U-17 World Cup with their counterparts from New Zealand, the head coach of the team, John Obuh has called on Nigerians to bury any ill feelings toward the team due to the poor performance of the senior national team.

Speaking on brilafm, the former Niger Tornadoes of Minna coach said he believes in total support adding that what the boys need to make history as the first team to retain the FIFA U-17 trophy is total support rather than boos from the fans.

“We need a lot of luck and prayers to win. My wish is to win the trophy and Nigerians should know that this is an U-17 team not the senior team, whatever that has happened to the senior national team should not be transferred to the boys who are aiming to get to the top.”

The former Kwara United of Ilorin coach believes that, “the support that they are going to give these boys is the total support that will go a long way in preparing them for the final.

“All I need from Nigerians is to support my team, I need you, forget what has happenned to Super Eagles,"Obuh said.
