The 2009 fashion award for the best dressed Nollywood diva is ready to fly as Gistmaster.com the organisers of the
annual award has announced. Gistmaster.com is a premium online celebrity news and photo agency.

It started as a blog (www.niyitabiti.blogspot.com) The winner was Nollywood diva and fashion sophisticat, Miss Rita Dominic. She was the centre of attraction as she was treated to a lavish reception at A-list hangout, Swe Bar in Lagos, shortly after she was declared winner.

As if on cue, the corporate organizations have also acknowledge Rita’s style prowess. She is now the face of the stylish Nokia N97 brand also a Glo ambassador.

Rita Dominic was adjudged the Best Dressed Nollywood Actress following massive reactions and a poll conducted by Gistmaster.com.

According to the facilitator of the poll, Nigerians from different parts of the world tapped into the global opportunities of the internet to vote for their favourite stars and at the end, Rita Dominic came top.

Already names like Genevieve Nnaji, Mercy Johnson, Ebube Nwangbo, Rita Dominic, Stephanie Okereke, Kate Henshaw and Stella Damasus, Bisi Ibidapo-Obe, Omoni Oboli and others have appeared on this year's list.

Latest information indicates that this year's edition would also include the best dressed actor in Nigeria.So it would be a two in one presentation.Ramsey Nouah, Jim Iyke, Kunle Afolayan and others would slug it out in the male category.

Sequel to a fantastic outing in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory, Destination Ice, the Smirnoff Voyage, organized for consumers of Smirnoff in select cities of the country berthed in Calabar, the Cross Rivers State capital penultimate Friday.

The Pinnacle Club, Marina Resort, the venue of the party was thronged by the crème of the Calabar partying public. As expected, the party showcased top performers like MI, the talented rap artiste, Bracket of the Yoriyori fame and DJ Jimmy Jatt who were on hand to provide a cocktail of good music for the enjoyment of Calabar Smirnoff brand consumers.

The ambience of the party was such as it had never happened before in Calabar. All party attendees were treated to a feel of several cities of the world in the venue of the party. From the Sound City Red carpet to the different destinations at the venue, the Calabar guests were blown away by the extraordinary experience that could only be Smirnoff.

At the Hong Kong Tattoo parlour, the queue was endless as consumers took their turn to get their body tattooed with the various designs they chose. Katherine Anyaogu, a banker who chose the design of a lion said her choice was motivated by the boldness and strength, which she finds attractive in people and which the Smirnoff brand reminds her of, however Prince Essien, an undergraduate said he chose a crown to depict his royalty because he is an Ibibio prince.

At the Las Vegas Poker table, Bassey Ntuen, a second year student of Economics at the University of Calabar was hooked to the games for a large part of the party’s duration. He said that the Smirnoff voyage was the most exciting event that has happened in recent times in Calabar.

Smirnoff consumers were also given opportunity to showcase their music talents and get their own tracks recorded at the London Music studio, while some enjoyed the prestige of the Moscow VIP corner, with the legendary cocktail; Screwdriver – which of course is a mixture of Smirnoff Vodka and orange.

DJ Jimmy Jatt held sway on the dance floor keeping the ever-energetic crowd on their feet all night. At the height of the excitement, Bracket, the Yori-yori duo took the floor with Jimmy’s support to throw the crowd into frenzy with several of their hit songs, including Yori-yori. “Destination Ice is the ideal party.

It is a very unique experience with different destinations around the world in one night. It is very great. We are happy to be part of it,” the duo said as they performed.

MI as usual, thrilled the Smirnoff Ice consumers for the rest of the party till daybreak. The rap artiste assured all present that they should expect the extra-ordinary at the Lagos event which will come up on the 30th October at the new local terminal of the Murtala Mohammed Airport (MM2).


MTN Nigeria Music Festival gets more support

Terra Kulture, a Nigerian cultural outfit that promotes the richness and diversity of Nigerian languages, arts and culture has thrown its weight behind the forthcoming MTN Nigerian Music Festival.

The company, widely regarded as the home of exotic antiques and entertainment, will be adding pep and spice to the event when it hosts music icons to an evening of royal retreat as a prelude to the epoch festival billed for November 21, 2009 at Ocean View Plaza, Victoria Island.

Terra Kulture is in good company in promoting Nigeria’s musical heritage through the MTN Nigerian Music Festival, a celebration of Nigeria’s blockburster songs and their crooners of over five decades. Apart from MTN Nigeria, the title sponsor, other sponsors of the project includes Skye Bank Plc.

Legendary Nigerian music ambassadors including, Sir Victor Uwaifo and Pa Fatai Rolling Dollar, as well as Christy Essien Igbokwe, Sir Shina Peters, Weird MC, Obesere, Faze and Olu Maintain would be hosted to an evening of exclusive dinner, dance and wine at the Terra Kulture.

Also gracing the event are representatives of MTN Nigeria, Skye Bank, Ruyi Communications Limited, media professionals and a few other participants of the MTN Nigerian Music Fest project.

Current chart bursting artistes, namely MI, Wande Coal, Terry G and J Martins have also been signed on to perform at the festival in Lagos. Also included on the list of ground-shakers for the day is Evi Edna-Ogoli, the sonorous singer and popular act in the 1980s and 1990s. She flies in from France to join other artistes to celebrate their own works.

Also, Island Limousine, a limousine hire company, has also indicated interest to partner with Ruyi Communications to make the show glitzy and memorable. The company is dedicating two Hummer limousines to convey performing artistes from their hotels to Ocean View Plaza, venue of the Lagos edition of the MTN Nigerian Music Festival.

As the date draws nearer, MTN Nigerian Music Fest gets bigger and better with various individuals, artistes and corporate entities jostling to be part of it.
