Oath: Alausa’s claim is baseless - LG boss

Olayinka Olukoya, Abeokuta - 05.07.2009

THE Chairman of Ifo Local Government Area of Ogun State, Alhaji Sikirulai Ogundele, on Thursday, debunked allegation by the embattled member of the State House of Assembly, Mr. Wale Alausa and described it as blatant lie and cheap blackmail.

Alausa on Tuesday alleged that all council chairmen and other public office holders took secret oath at the instance of Governor Gbenga Daniel.

Ogundele contended that the lawmaker was being economical with the truth by saying secret oath was administered on all local government chairmen in the state.

According to him,“With the events that had unfolded since May 2008 when the House changed its leadership, the people of Ogun State and indeed, Nigerians, can now decipher the truth and appreciate what Ogun State had gone through in the last 12 months in the hands of the dishonourable members of the G-15 at the Ogun State House of Assembly.”

The LG boss described Governor Gbenga Daniel as a true patriot and democrat who would never administer oath on anybody.

He said, “Governor Daniel, as a true patriot and democrat, has never and will never administer secret oath on anybody and will not get involved in any sordid acts that will bring the state into disrepute.”

Ogundele urged the people of the state to remain committed to the administration of Governor Daniel in his bid to deliver more dividends of democracy.

He declared that nobody ever administered any secret oath on him either before or after his election as the council chairman.
