Lagelu LG House Leader removed
05.07.2009
FOLLOWING the dissolution of the leadership of Lagelu local government legislative arm, the former deputy leader of the House, Honourable Kazeem Gbadamosi, from Ward VI in the council area, has emerged the new leader.
According to a release signed by eight members of the legislative arm, the decision to dissolve the leadership was unanimously taken at a meeting attended by more than two third of membership of the House.
Amongst others, the councillors accused the former leadership of the House, led by Honourable Isaiah Gbolagade, of failing to convene the sitting of the House for about six months, thereby impeding the execution of the statutory duty of the House of passing bills and bye laws. The former leadership, they said, also failed to provide effective checks and balances to the executive arm of the local government.
The new leadership of the House also suspended release of funds in the local government, except the money meant for payment of staff salaries.
