N/Delta: 23 more militants embrace amnesty

Twenty three suspected militants in Delta State, on Friday, embraced the amnesty offer of the Federal Government and turned in their arms and ammunition to the Inspector General of Police, Mr. Mike Okiro.

The militants all clad in black attire with red bands on their head and shoulder, said they were embracing the gesture of government for the return of the elusive peace to the troubled region.

Commander of the group, Awe Akuke, who disclosed that their camp was named Mile 15 located somewhere in Burutu Local Government Area of the state, added that they renounced militancy because of the amnesty offered by the government, which would enable them live harmoniously with their people.

He added that they were tired of running around from security agents and would now want to live a normal and peaceful life in the midst of people.

The Inspector General of Police, Mr. Mike Okiro, who was supported by the Assistant Inspector General of Zone Five, Benin, Mr. Julian Okpaleke, the state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Yakubu Alkali and the Area Commander, Warri, Mr. Shaba Yakubu were at hand to receive the militants.
