Nigeria's home-based Super Eagles squad on Sunday in Calabar recorded a 2-0 victory over the Stallions of Burkina Faso in the first leg qualifier for the newly-introduced African Cup of Nations Championship.
One goal in each half was all the Eagles needed to subdue the hard-fighting Burkinabes who gave the Nigerian team a run for its money.
The coach Okey Emordi-tutored Eagles scored the first goal of the encounter in the first half through Kano Pillars’ Bello Kofamarta, while Globacom Premier League leading goal scorer, Eze Otorogu of Enyimba of Aba doubled the lead in the second stanza
Both teams will meet again in two weeks’ time for the return leg billed for Ouagadougou.
