Fire razes Kogi Government House

PART of Kogi State Government House, popularly known as Lugard House, was gutted by fire on Saturday night. Nigerian Tribune investigation revealed that the fire was caused by an electrical fault at around 9.00 p.m. on Saturday, while renovation was going on.

According to a source, the problem started when a welder working in the official residence of the governor erroneously touched an electrical gadget with his tools which caught fire and immediately, the fire caught the ceiling of the governor’s living room.

Although no life was lost to the incident as the occupants of the house had over two weeks ago travelled out of the country, those working in the part of the house promptly made a distress call to fire service station which instantly put out the inferno.

It was gathered that renovation on the governor’s residence had been on since his return after the re-run election in March.

Reacting to the incident, an aide to the governor, Mr. Phrank Shaibu, stated that nothing was lost in the fire which he and described as a minor incident.
