Emir’s son disappears with N8.2m contract money

THE commission of inquiry probing contract awarded by the last administration in Niger State on Monday heard that the grandson of a first class emir in one of the North Central states of the country has disappeared with about N8.2 million.

The emir’s grand son was awarded contract for the supply of 1000 double bunk beds to five educational institutions in the state in 2000. Testifying before the commission which resumed sitting in Minna on Monday, the Director of Planning, Research and Statistics Ministry of Education, Alhaji Abdullahi Idris, said the emirs son, who won the contract, was the Managing director of Rishabal Nigeria Limited.

According to the witness, the contractor was paid t N8.2 million in three instalments. Alhaji Idris said that he led a delegation to the emirs palace on several occasions but all efforts proved abortive.

Meanwile, the Managing Director of Nasiha Construction Company, Alhaji Dantsoho Ndatukura, has pleaded with the commission to grant him time to complete the N94 million contract for the replacement of culverts along the Kwakuti-Kaffinkoro road. Ndatukuras company was awarded the contract in 2003.
