Minister cautions indigenes over Kano economic problem

THE Minister of Finance, Dr Shamsudeen Usman, has cautioned the indigenes of the state not to blame the socio-economic woes facing the state on anybody, but the handiwork of indigenes themselves , who rather than assist the state are depending on the government to do everything for them.

Dr Usman, who said this at the weekend at a reception dinner organised for him and Minister of State for Commerce, Alhaji Ahmed Graba Bichi, organised by the Kano Chamber of Commerce , Industry and Agriculture (KACCIMA), said the state had remained stagnant economically while other smaller states were excelling.

We are only interested in blaming Federal Government or Obasanjo as the causes of economic predicament facing the state, just as he asked what are the contributions of every well-to-do indigene ” he said.

Our people prefer to give peanut to their people , instead of teaching them how to catch fish ,we are only interested in giving them fish , so that ‘they will continue succumb to their whims and caprices ‘
‘The greatest enemy of Kano State , are Kano people , federal government did not cause problem , nor Obasanjo should be blamed” adding that unless we realized the problem , because mere realizing the problem ,will at least solve 50 per cent of the problems we are facing, Dr Usman said.

‘It seem we are all asleep , Kano unknown to many is the dirtiest state in the country and has nothing to offer economically , full of catastrophes and subject to epidemic because we are not ready to face reality.’

Let us wake up from slumber and address the fundamental problems facing us , put aside unnecessary politics,” stressing that Polio that has been wipe off completely from serious community was being politicised.”
