NCE students to enjoy monthly salary in Zamfara

Governor Mahmuda Aliyu Shinkafi of Zamfara State, has said plans are on to introduce a monthly salary package for Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE) students of the state, who are undergoing training in colleges of education across the country.

“Government is considering placing any student from the state who is undergoing training at college of education on a monthly salary of Grade Level 03” he said.

Speaking during the inauguration of the electronic classroom and the presentation of prize to the winners of the Nigerian Olympiads in Mathematics and science, the governor said that “there is acute shortage of indigenous trained teachers in our schools”.

According to him, “it was for this reason government is trying to introduce special incentives for the students. Commenting further, Governor Shinkafi reiterated the commitment of his government to provide incentives for the training and re-training of teachers who have taken up teaching.

He said that his government had procured mathematics and other assorted textbooks worth N96 million for distribution to all secondary schools in the state.

Earlier, the Director General, National Mathematical Centre, Abuja, Professor Sam Ale, said that 21 students of Zamfara State qualified for various awards following their performance at the North West Olympiad competition.

He said the centre would from next session introduce a postgraduate diploma programme in Mathematics with Gusau as the centre.
