Threat To Life: Audu Is a Liar - Kogi Gov

The Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ibrahim Idris, has described the allegation of threat to life levelled against him by his predecessor, Prince Abubakar Audu, as a “figment of his imagination.”

Idris stated that Audu was being economical with the truth. He said that his administration, since coming on board in 2003, had given due respect and recognition to Audu as a former governor of the state, but regretted that Audu in his “arrogant manner never reciprocated or respected the new authority.”

Idris, who spoke through his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Richard Elesho, on Friday, said Audu had on several occasions come late to events where both of them had been invited.

Elesho said as if this was not enough, Audu allegedly used his thugs to disrupt the event.

He further explained that Monday’s incident in Anyigba was a blatant disrespect to the authority of Idris, as Audu allegedly deliberately came late to the Italo festival, hours after the governor had been seated, and wanted to drive into the venue with his thugs, but was resisted by the security men put in place by the organising committee.

Consequently, the former governor allegedly left the arena in annoyance.

He said it was thus a shock to read in the media that Audu alleged a threat to his life.

Idris said it was no longer news to the people of the state when Audu alleges threat to his life as this had become a routine.

He said the former governor was only being haunted by his past and arrogance.
