Fashola Pleads For Patience On Ikorodu Road

The Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babatunde Fashola (SAN), on Friday pleaded for patience and understanding from the people of the state on the inconveniences being experienced by them on the roads, especially on Ikorodu Road.

Fashola, who spoke at the Alausa Central Mosque, during the Jumat prayers, said the quest by the state government to provide BRT routes was aimed at serving the interest of the greater number of the people at the end of the day.

He added that the project had been slowed down by the laying of gas pipelines, which is also going on simultaneously on Ikorodu Road.

He reminded the people that both projects were very important to the state as gas represents a major plank through which the state could be liberated from the inconsistencies of energy supply.

While appealing for understanding, Fashola said the benefits derivable from the BRT would quickly erase all difficulties being experienced once it becomes functional.

Fashola also identified the multiplicity of festivities and the attendant mass influx of vehicular and human activities into Lagos as another major reason for high traffic gridlock being experienced in some areas.

He called on residents of Lagos to embrace peace and say no to all forms of violence, which political and religious differences may precipitate if not handled well.

He cited the example of the carnage that was going on in Kenya in the aftermath of the general election as one compelling reason why the people should embrace peace at all times.

He said it was to the credit of Lagos and Nigeria that there were sharp disagreements during the last general election but that contending parties resorted to seeking judicial solutions to the problems.

Fashola thanked the people for extending a reassuring hand of support to his administration just as they did with Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
