Ekwensi, Famous Novelist, Buried

The remains of renowned broadcaster and famous novelist, Cyprian Ekwensi, was on Friday buried in his country home in Nkelle Ezunaka, Oyi Local Government Area, Anambra State.

Speaking during the burial Mass, which was attended by former Governors of Anambra State - Chief C. C Onoh, Dr. Chris Ngige; the Deputy Governor of Anambra State, Dame Virgy Etiaba; Chukwuemeka Ike, author of The Bottled Leopard; and other prominent Nigerians, the Vicar of Jos Archdiocese, Rev. Benedict Obidiegwu, described Ekwensi’s death as one of the inevitables of life.

Obidiegwu, who said he was pleased with the way Ekwensi spent his life, said he impacted positively on humanity.

He tasked governments at all levels to immortalise Ekwensi. He said this would be the only way of appreciating his many contributions in the development of African literature and education in general.
